Little Steps make big progress

A simple and obvious way to accomplish any task is to break it down into tiny compartmental tasks. Doing so you will avoid becoming overwhelmed by dwelling on how large the task is and how many things must get done to getting it completed.
For example let’s say that your job involves going to meetings all day long, and you find that you cannot concentrate due to depression, anxiety, or just plain old daydreaming. Your mind begins to wander to such thoughts as, “I cannot comprehend this like I need to. My God this is boring or, I’d rather be napping on the sofa or making love right now.”
Well now you have a surefire way to increase your concentration and rid yourself of boredom.
Break the task down into minute components. Decide to pay attention for only 4 minutes, and then take a 1 minute break to daydream again. At the end of this mental escape, listen for another 4 minutes, (Focus on the task and do not let your mind wander for this brief period) then give yourself a 1 minute daydreaming break again.
Believe me when I tell you that this method always enables you to sustain an effective level of overall concentration, and allowing yourself to settle on distracting thoughts for small periods will reduce their power over you, and after a while they will seem pointless.

The entire secret to your success utilizing this technique is in allowing you to maintain an effective level of concentration overall. Allowing yourself to dwell on arbitrary thoughts for short periods will diminish their power over you. The way to accomplish this is to divide your task into manageable chunks during time limitation. Settle on how much time you will devote to a task, and then discontinue at the end of the prearranged time and go onto something more enjoyable whether you are finished or not.
As simple as these sounds it can really work wonders.
Do you tend to bite more than you can chew? Have the courage to put modest time limits on what you do! Have the nerve to walk away from an uncompleted task! You will be astonished that you will experience a significant increase in your productivity and frame of mind, and your procrastination will become a thing of the past.
